Tapaderos are a stylish safety addition to any saddle.  These tapaderos were modelled after the spanish style that where used to protect the buckaroos boots from brush, and also from preventing the foot from sliding through the stirrup.  However, these tapaderos have several modern features.  The stirrups that they are mounted on are made of a very light weight composite, therefore will probably be about the same weight as your current stirrup.  Also, the stirrup has a very wide base, making it more comfortable for your foot because you are able to distribute your weight over a larger surface area.  The stirrup pad is almost an inch thick of high density foam that absorbs the shock instead of transmitting it to your knees and your ankles.  You will be more comfortable and safer in these stirrups!  The colors of the tapaderos can be combined to fit your saddle.
